Nicole Shea, MA
Nicole Shea received her bachelor's degree in Psychology at the College of Saint Rose, followed by her master's degree in Counseling and Community Psychology through Sage Graduate School. She interned at Samaritan Counseling Center and has continued on to begin her career in psychotherapy. Nicole is a member of the New York State Mental Health Counselor's Association.
Nicole began her career in mental health at St. Catherine's Center for Children. Here Nicole specialized in the development of Functional Behavioral Planning and became a certified trainer in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI). Nicole returned to St. Catherine's for her graduate level externship; developing a program to address staff burn-out, enhance professional skills, and provide support for direct care workers. Nicole moved on to work with adults and adolescents in both inpatient and outpatient community mental health settings. She has supervised 3 mental health case management programs and is an intake coordinator for Rehabilitation Support Services. Throughout her mental health career, Nicole has taken an increased interest in working with couples and families as well as individuals. She plans to continue her personal research in areas such as Family Systems Theory, anxiety disorders, Self Psychology and Gerontology.
